She studied at the St Martin's School of Art in London under Roland Vivian Pitchforth (1895-1982). Sybil lived for many years in Suffolk and was a member of Ipswich Art Club from 1963 and continued to exhibit regularly throughout her painting career. She also exhibited at the Royal Academy 1963-1969, the New English Art Club and the Society of Women Artists (1959-1980) and at the Paris Salon where she won gold and silver medal. In 1964 elected a member of the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours and the Society of Marine Artists and was also a member of the Society of Women Artists. On her death, Sybil donated £800,000 to the RNLI to build a lifeboat
