John Thompson Dunning was a painter who studied at Heatherley's and Exeter School of Art and showed at (amongst many) Royal Society of British Artists (who elected him a member in 1899), Royal Academy, Royal Birmingham Society of Artists, Glasgow Institute of Fine Arts, Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool and Manchester Academy of Fine Arts
