Frank Hider was a painter in oil and sometimes watercolour of coastal scenes and rural landscapes. His oils were often inscribed with the title and location on the reverse. Frank Hider's style and colour are similar to S. Y. Johnson but he usually painted with a broader technique.

Frank Hider was born in Lambeth, South London in 1861. He lived in Essex for a number of years and died in 1933.
