Zavaro was born in Istanbul in 1925. After his father’s death in 1926, his family moved to France. As an adolescent, he spent most of his free time in the Louvre and other art museums in Paris. 
 
In 1945 he entered the l’École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, across from the Louvre. In 1956 he had his first exhibition in Paris at the Galerie Barbizon. Zavaro has achieved continued success with exhibiting, and has featured in some of the major galleries around the world including France, US and Japan.
