Born in 1962 in Westminster, London, Brom has been painting since 1991 and first exhibited in 1994. He moved to Cornwall at this time where 4 generations of his family have lived and worked beside the Camel Estuary at Rock. His father Gwyther Irwin was a celebrated artist in London and Brom’s earliest memories, aged three, are watching him working in his studio. These early experiences influenced him to become a painter himself.
 
Brom attended Falmouth University from 2006 and after gaining his BA (Hons) Fine Art he then qualified with a Master of Fine Art (MFA) in 2016.
